About the client

Understanding our client: specifics, challenges, and custom solutions

The client is a UAE-based health tech startup developing a digital product around fitness, wellness, and connected health data. The product concept focused on bringing wearable activity and sleep data into one environment where users could view, organize, and interpret their personal health and fitness metrics.

Problem

The client needed to validate whether health and fitness data from external wearable platforms could become a reliable foundation for an AI fitness analytics product.
The main challenge was to move from fragmented provider data to a structured product foundation that could support user-specific analysis later. The platform had to account for external data availability, permission-based access, incomplete records, and different metric formats before the data could support meaningful AI-assisted analysis.

Solution

Our team developed a custom health data analytics platform to connect external fitness data sources and structure user activity, sleep, and wellness metrics inside one product environment. The initial development focused on API-based data extraction and validation for Garmin and Apple Health data, with Garmin connection implemented through an authorization flow and synchronized activity data.
The platform logic included user registration, profile setup, device connection, subscription-controlled access, and dedicated areas for workout, sleep, previous activity, body journal, and daily performance data. Health and activity records were structured so users could view summaries, inspect detailed data, and access AI-assisted analysis based on their connected records.
The AI layer was designed around record-specific coaching interactions and daily performance analytics. Activity and sleep data could be used as context for AI-generated insights, chat-based analysis, and performance summaries, while admin-side prompt management supported control over how AI responses were configured.

Key features

Project features overview: essential enhancements and strategic solutions

  • feature

    Wearable Health Data Integration

The platform was structured around external health data integrations, with Garmin connected through an authorization flow and synchronized activity data. Apple Health was also included in the API validation scope to assess available health and fitness metrics.
This integration layer supported the collection and organization of user-authorized data such as workouts, activity metrics, sleep records, heart rate, GPS-related data, and other wellness indicators available from connected providers.
  • feature

Health Records and Body Journal Workspace

The platform organizes connected data into dedicated areas for workouts, sleep records, previous activities, and Body Journal entries. Users can view summary cards, open detailed records, and inspect available raw data when needed.
The Body Journal brings different record types into one chronological workspace, making activity and sleep data easier to review as part of one health data experience rather than separate provider outputs.
  • feature

AI Coach and Daily Performance Analytics

The AI layer supports coaching interactions connected to specific activity and sleep records. User profile data, selected record data, and historical records can be used as context for AI-assisted analysis and follow-up conversations.
Daily performance logic adds a structured analytics layer with stored performance records, recovery, physiology, and load indexes, AI-generated summaries, and recommendations based on available activity and sleep data.
  • feature

Activity Data Management and Manual Records

Activity records include detailed workout metrics such as duration, distance, calories, heart rate, pace, speed, elevation, steps, respiration, VO₂ max, and device-related data where available. Users can inspect detailed activity data and use valid metrics as context for analysis.
The platform also supports edited and manually added activity records, including notes and attachments. This helps keep the Body Journal useful when connected device data is missing, incomplete, or needs user correction.
  • feature

Admin, Subscription, and AI Configuration Control

The platform includes administrative logic for managing users, access, subscription status, contact inquiries, blog content, and system configuration. Stripe-based subscription logic supports paid access and redirects users to Stripe-hosted flows for billing-related actions.
Admin-side prompt management gives the product owner a way to review and adjust system prompts for sleep analysis, activity analysis, and base AI behavior, keeping AI response configuration part of the platform rather than a disconnected backend process.

Result

Performance Showcase: Unveiling the Results of Our Collaborative Endeavors

The client received a structured health data analytics platform that turned connected wearable data into an organized product environment for fitness and wellness analytics. Instead of relying on isolated provider outputs, the platform created a foundation for account-based access, connected health records, AI-assisted interpretation, and subscription-controlled product use.
For the business, the project provided a clearer technical base for developing an AI fitness analytics product around user-owned health data, daily performance logic, and configurable AI coaching workflows. It also gave the product owner operational control over users, subscriptions, content, inquiries, and AI prompt behavior for future product development.
